Let me start by wishing everyone good health, happiness and prosperity in the Year of the Dog!
I am pleased to present you with our first newsletter for 2018.
Through these periodic updates, we hope to keep you abreast of the key initiatives that have been carried out by our Association recently as well as to provide you with information on upcoming events and news related to IRPAS and the IR community. Reflecting on 2017
Over the course of 2017, we had organised various educational events for the benefit of our members. The highlight of the year was the inaugural IRPAS-EQS website survey awards which was held in October. The presentation of awards to the deserving winners was the culmination of months of research into the state of IR websites in Singapore.
With the collaboration of our corporate supporting members, we held talks/workshops on MiFID II, sustainability reporting and IR tools. We are pleased that members found the events enlightening and look forward to organising more of such sessions.
We administered 2 examinations for the ICIR Certificate in 2017. Congratulations to all the successful candidates! Please do add the acronym ICIR in your name card to help us propagate this accreditation. The next examination will be on 5 April 2018. Registrations are still open and those interested, please refer to our website for enrolment.
We ended the year on a lighter note, with our year-end function that was held at Pim Pam @ Orchard on 5th December. With the generous support given by our sponsors â€“ Orient Capital, EQS, IPREO, Starhub and Huawei it was a memorable evening of enjoyable tapas, drinks and networking. A few lucky ones walked away with prizes.
As we move into 2018, I would like to thank our members for renewing their memberships. We are appreciative of your support and remain committed to deliver value to you, being a part of our IR community in Singapore.
One of the agenda we will be pursuing is to have more strategic tie-ups with like-minded associations such as Singapore Institute of Directors (SID). Our members will be able to enjoy invitations at discounted rates to selected SID events.
We will continue to serve the IR community by planning a series of events that will be both relevant and constructive. Please look out for the announcements through eDMs and our website.

Outsourcing of Secretariat
I would like to inform members that the Board has decided to outsource our secretariat to intelli.asia with effect from 1 March 2018. The intelli.asia Group provides professional outsourced solutions for associations and they have many notable clients in Singapore.
The Head of Secretariat will be Ms June Tan who is the CEO of The intelli.asia Group. She will be assisted by her colleagues, Daphe and Siddhi.

IRPAS-EQS Investor Relations Website Survey
IRPAS and EQS had embarked on a survey to determine the state of IR websites in Singapore. The objective of this exercise is to provide companies an opportunity to evaluate their own IR websites and how they fare against their peers. Every listed company was surveyed and given a score based on these 3 main factors:
- User Experience
- Web Technology
The companies with the best scores were then invited to our inaugural awards on 20th October 2017 at SGX Auditorium.

IRPAS Year End Function
To cap the year, we had a year-end function at Pim Pam @ Orchard for our members. It was a memorable fun evening with excellent food and drinks. The casual setting facilitated good networking opportunities and allowed members to get to know each other better.
A big Thank You to our venue sponsors: Orient Capital, EQS and IPREO for making the event possible. We had exciting lucky draw prizes sponsored by Starhub and Huawei. The grand lucky draw winner went home with a flagship Huawei Mate 10 smartphone!
Mr Uanthchern Loh (in photo), CEO, Asia Pacific of Black Sun conducted a workshop on Sustainability Reporting. This is a topical subject that is relevant to all of us in the industry.
The workshop explored the concept of risk management, and how it is one of the key benefits of sustainability reporting. Numerous case studies were shared to gain a better understanding on how risk management is linked to sustainability reporting.
It was an afternoon well spent with participants gaining new insights and knowledge on Sustainability Reporting.
SAC SME Business Financial Management Programme
IRPAS was invited by the Singapore Accountancy Commission to conduct a training session on Stakeholder Relations as part of the SME Business Financial Management programme. Two of our directors, Mr Basskaran Nair and Mr Jonathan Kuah volunteered their time to share their knowledge and experience on the subject.
The participants were senior management personnel from SMEs. Although Investor Relations may not be a subject which is relevant to their day-to-day business currently, some of these SMEs may have greater ambition to grow rapidly and the knowledge shared, would serve them well in the future.
